British Steel signs shirt and training ground agreement with Scunthorpe United

British Steel’s logo will be proudly emblazoned on Scunthorpe United’s training shirts and coaching facilities for the new season.
It comes after the UK’s only primary steelmaker, which has its headquarters in Scunthorpe, signed a new community partnership with the Iron for the 2025-26 campaign.
Today, the club unveiled the striking new shirts, while its first team coaching hub – adjacent to United’s Attis Arena stadium – will be known as the British Steel Training Ground.
Lisa Coulson, British Steel’s Chief Commercial Officer (interim), said: “If you ask people what Scunthorpe is famous for, most will say either steel or the Iron, so we’re exceptionally proud to again be working in partnership with Scunthorpe United.
“Neither of us have had the easiest of times over recent years but throughout that period we have supported each other, and we’re now looking to the future with great optimism.
“Many of our colleagues support the Iron and cheered them on to promotion last season. And as the club prepares for a new challenge in the National League, we’re sure they’ll be cheering even louder because British Steel is backing their team.
“These are exciting times for the club and our business, and we wish Andy Butler and his players every success for the new season. Up the Iron!”
Scunthorpe United Chair and co-owner, Michelle Harness, said: “We’re immensely proud to partner up with British Steel again, and this relationship means a great deal to everyone at the club, as it will for our supporters. Both the club and British Steel have deep roots in Scunthorpe, and have both been through a lot in recent years, and bringing both back closer together was a real focus for me.
“For our supporters, many of whom have worked at the steelworks or have family who have, this will mean a lot. It’s a reminder of who we are and where we come from. We’re proud to have their name become synonymous with us again, and hope it gives our fans another reason to stand tall and back the team.”
Iron Manager Andy Butler added: “This is another fantastic step forward for both the football club and for British Steel, and shows the strength in unity between both parties. We will be proud to wear British Steel every single day in training, and to train on the British Steel training ground, and look forward to this great partnership achieving fantastic things in the community.
“British Steel, like our proud football team, is a huge part of Scunthorpe’s identity, and it’s brilliant to be part of both working hand-in-hand once more for the good of the town.”
Supporters will be able to purchase training kit from the club shop and via sufcshop.com in due course, with British Steel branding across all retail wear as well as the players’ and coaching staff editions.
